About CompelKit

Why We Built CompelKit

CompelKit started from a simple frustration: every time we needed to quickly check a mortgage payment, compare a freelance tax structure, or convert an audio file, the "free calculator" we found online was cluttered with pop-ups, required an account, or buried the answer under unrelated ads and auto-playing videos. We built CompelKit to be the opposite of that — fast, accurate, and free, with no signup wall.

Every calculator on this site is paired with an in-depth written guide explaining the reasoning and formulas behind the numbers — not just a black-box result. We believe a good tool should teach you something, not just spit out a figure you have to trust blindly. That's why our Guides section exists alongside every calculator: to explain the "why," cite the real formulas used, and call out common mistakes people make with each topic.

Our Approach to Accuracy

Our finance calculators (mortgage, tax, retirement, and loan tools) are built on the same publicly documented formulas used by lenders and accountants — standard amortization math, current federal tax bracket structures, and widely accepted retirement withdrawal frameworks like the 4% rule. All formulas and calculator models on CompelKit are rigorously built and verified against standard U.S. amortization schedules, mathematical specifications, and public tax guidelines. Every guide on this site is written and reviewed to reflect that same standard, and we clearly flag where a calculation is a general estimate rather than a substitute for a licensed CPA, financial advisor, or tax professional.

Founder & Engineering Methodology

CompelKit was founded and is engineered by Greg Freeman, who brings combined experience in business operations, software engineering, and building analytical tools. The same person who researches and writes each guide also maintains the calculator that accompanies it, so the published prose reflects the actual formulas, edge cases, and limits of the tool. Every calculator model is unit-tested against known reference outputs before release and re-checked when tax brackets, market conventions, or standards change. The standards we hold ourselves to — sourcing, review cadence, corrections policy, and our stance on paid placements — are published in our Editorial Policy.

Who's Behind CompelKit

CompelKit is built and edited by Greg Freeman, who founded the project to address the gap between the "answer in a box" calculator sites that dominate search results and the genuinely useful, transparent tools he wanted to use himself. Every guide is researched and written by the same team that maintains each calculator, so the prose reflects the actual formulas, edge cases, and limits of the tool it accompanies. The full set of standards we hold ourselves to — sourcing, review cadence, corrections policy, and our stance on paid placements — is published in our Editorial Policy.

Questions or Suggestions?

If you spot an error, have a tool idea, or just want to tell us what's working, use the suggestion button available throughout the app — we read every submission and regularly ship new tools based on what people actually ask for. You can also reach us directly through our Contact page for longer messages, bug reports, or partnership inquiries. Press, advertising, and reuse-permission requests are handled through the same channel and routed to the right person.
